What happens if my clients don't ask me for an invoice?

Clients and invoices in Paraguay

It's common to encounter situations where you have a business selling products or services and your clients tell you they don't need an invoice, just a simpler sales receipt, the famous "ticket". The first thing that comes to mind is that this benefits you as the owner, since "you won't pay VAT for that sale"; but this statement is completely wrong from the start.

However, this situation, far from being advantageous, proves harmful in the long term. Many will wonder why.

Why not issuing invoices affects my business?

First of all, not issuing invoices is a tax crime, since you are evading your obligation to deliver the corresponding VAT to the Treasury (DNIT). Secondly, if in the future you want to grow your business and apply for a bank loan, the bank will ask for your sworn declarations to verify your income. If you have never issued invoices, it will be very difficult to prove your real income, which can harm you legally and hinder your growth projects.

The recommendation is to always issue invoices, whether the client requests it or not, indicating their RUC or ID number.
